Schaner Designs LLC, effective September 16, 2026
This policy covers www.schanerdesigns.com and the email we send. It describes what we collect, why, who else touches it, and how to have it removed. It does not cover our QuickBooks integration tool, which has its own policy.
1. Who we are

Questions about this policy, or requests about your own information, go to dan@schanerdesigns.com. A person reads that inbox.
2. What we collect
What you give us, and the records of what you buy. There is no account to create, and we do not buy contact lists. The site has four forms:
| Form | What it asks for |
|---|---|
| Contact | Name, email, company, phone, what your enquiry is about, and details relevant to that topic. You may optionally attach a sketch, photo, or drawing. |
| Custom SDLA quote | Name, email, company, phone, ship-to location, and the actuator specification you need. |
| Free CAD downloads | Email address. |
| Automation roadmap checklist | Email address. |
Each form also records the time of submission and the page it came from.
Orders. When you buy from us we keep what the order needs: your name, email, shipping and billing address, phone, and what you bought. Orders placed before September 2026 went through our previous store on Squarespace, and we kept those records when we moved to this site.
Analytics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless. It reports aggregate figures such as page views and referring sites. It does not build a profile of you and does not follow you to other websites.
No advertising or tracking on this site. We run no advertising pixels, no remarketing tags, and no cross-site trackers. Our marketing email is different, and section 5 explains how.
3. Cookies and browser storage
This site sets no cookies. There is no cookie banner because there is nothing to consent to.
Two small items are stored in your own browser, and only if you use them:
sd-download-emailandsd-roadmap-emailrecord that you already gave us an email for a download, so the form does not ask you again on that browser.
These stay on your device, are never sent anywhere except with the form you submitted, and clearing your browser data removes them.
Affiliate links. A few blog posts link to products on Amazon through the Amazon Associates program, and we earn a commission on qualifying purchases. If you follow one of those links, Amazon may set cookies on its own site to credit the referral. That happens on amazon.com, not here, and Amazon does not send us your personal information, only totals of what was bought.
If you visited our previous website before September 2026, your browser may still hold cookies set by Squarespace on this domain. The current site does not read or use them, and they expire on their own.
4. Where it goes
We keep submissions and order records in our own email and business files. These providers necessarily handle data in the course of running the site and our email:
| Provider | Role |
|---|---|
| Netlify | Hosts the site and receives form submissions |
| Cloudflare | Cookieless analytics |
| Microsoft 365 | Our email, and the file storage where we keep order and contact records |
| Stripe | Checkout for store orders |
| MailerLite | Sends our marketing email, holds the addresses of people who opted in to it, and records opens and link clicks on those emails |
| NeverBounce | Checks that an address can still receive mail before we send marketing to it. It receives the address and nothing else |
| Google Fonts | Serves the two typefaces the site uses, which means your IP address reaches Google when a page loads |
| YouTube | Embedded videos. Video thumbnails load from YouTube’s image server, which means your IP address reaches Google when a page with a video loads. The player itself loads from youtube-nocookie.com and stores nothing until you press play |
Payments. Store checkout happens on Stripe’s own pages. We never receive or store your card number. Some products are also listed on eBay, and orders placed there are handled by eBay under its own privacy policy.
We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for advertising. We disclose it only where the law requires it.
5. Marketing email
You are on our marketing list only if you asked to be:
- Three of our forms include a checkbox to receive occasional automation notes and new resources. On the contact form it is selected by default and you can clear it before sending. On the download forms it is not selected by default.
- If you bought from us and ticked the box to receive marketing at checkout, you are on the same list.
We send marketing email through MailerLite, and we check that addresses can still receive mail before we send.
Opens and clicks. Our marketing emails record whether a message was opened and which links in it were clicked. MailerLite does this with a small invisible image in the email and by passing links through its own address before sending you on to the page. We use it to see which emails are worth sending. Turning off images in your email app stops open tracking, and unsubscribing stops both.
You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any message we send, or by emailing dan@schanerdesigns.com. Unsubscribing does not affect a quote, an order, or an enquiry already in progress.
If you did not opt in, we only use your address to answer you or to handle your order.
6. How long we keep it
Quotes, orders, and project enquiries are kept as long as we need them for the work and for our tax and accounting records. Addresses on our marketing list, including download and checklist addresses, are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
7. Your choices
Email dan@schanerdesigns.com and we will:
- tell you what we hold about you
- correct anything wrong
- delete it, unless we are required to keep it for tax or accounting reasons
- stop sending you marketing
We do this for anyone who asks, wherever you live, rather than only where a law requires it. We will not make you create an account or prove anything unreasonable to exercise this.
8. Children
This site is for businesses and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect their information.
9. Security
Form submissions travel over HTTPS. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we do not claim otherwise.
10. Changes
If this policy changes materially, the effective date at the top changes with it. Substantive changes to how we use marketing addresses will be announced to the people on that list before they take effect.
