Choosing a spec
Why the SDLA is built the way it is
The two questions we get most before an order: why a belt instead of a ball screw, and why an open-loop stepper instead of a servo.
Belt drive or ball screw?
Both turn rotary motion into linear motion, but they behave very differently in real machines.
Steppers first, servos when it counts
Why we default to open-loop steppers, and when a servo is worth it.
Questions
Before you order
- What framing does the SDLA mount to?
- Standard T-slot aluminum extrusion. The actuator is built on T-slot profile itself and mounts to 80/20 and FramingTech style framing without adapter plates.
- What motor and connector come installed?
- A NEMA 17 stepper is installed and aligned at our shop. It ships with a Molex Mini-Fit Jr. connector, cable wrap, and heat shrink. Bring your own stepper driver and controller.
- How fast does it ship?
- In-stock units ship the next business day. Backordered units typically ship within one to two weeks. We ship to the continental United States, Alaska, and Hawaii. International shipping is quoted per order.
- Can I get a custom stroke length or a bigger motor?
- Yes. Custom lengths and NEMA 23 builds are made to order on the same carriage and mounting pattern. Use the custom SDLA quote form with the stroke and payload you need.
- Where is it made?
- Designed and assembled in Omaha, Nebraska, and inspected before shipment.
